David Jeanjoseph Roger (born July 28, 1961) is an American lawyer and politician. He served as Clark County District Attorney from January 6, 2003 to January 3, 2012. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Roger was born on July 28, 1961 in Oakland, California. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when he was a teenager with his family where he graduated from Bishop Gorman College in 1979. He then majored in Business at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he graduated in 1983. After graduating from California School of Western Law in San Diego in 1986, he moved back to Las Vegas to practice law. He passed the Nevada Bar exam that same year and obtained a legal office under two Nevada District Court judges, Stephen L. Huffaker and Paul Goldman. The following year in 1987, Roger was employed at the local Prosecutor's office as a prosecutor and quickly moved to deal with major cases. He was elected as Clark County District Attorney on November 5, 2002. In response to the violence carried out by the white, rich and suburban youth Boyz, Roger asked for probation for the subjects, who the judge said was very soft.
Roger successfully sued Rick Tabish and Sandra Murphy in the Ted Binion murder trial published in the spring of 2000. But in 2003, the Nevada Supreme Court overturned the conviction and Tabish and Murphy were both freed from the killings after a new trial took place during Autumn. year 2004.
Roger came to the attention of the national media of the alleged robbery case of O. J. Simpson Las Vegas. He personally sued OJ Simpson for allegedly winning confidence over all charges against Simpson.
In September 2010, Roger filed for cocaine crime possession claims against Paris Hilton, but surrendered and allowed Hilton to plead guilty to two minor offenses in exchange for probation without one year supervision, a $ 200 fine and 200 hours of community service.
Roger resigned as Clark County District Attorney on January 3, 2012 and was soon replaced by Republican Mary Anne Miller as an interim district attorney by the Clark County Commission and subsequently replaced by Democrat Steve Wolfson as a permanent state attorney by the Clark County Commission on January 24, 2012.
