Juan F. Vasquez (born 1948 in Texas) is a judge of the United States Tax Court.
Vasquez studied at Fox Tech High School and San Antonio Junior College, where he studied Data Processing; she received B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972. After working for two years as an accountant, he attended a law school year at State University of New York in Buffalo, but got his JD from Houston Law Center University in 1977, LL.M. in Taxation from New York University Law School in 1978.
After serving as an experimental lawyer for Internal Revenue Service, Vasquez became a partner at Leighton, Hood and Vasquez law firms from 1982-87, and had a personal practice as a tax attorney in San Antonio from 1987-1995. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton as Judge, US Tax Court, on May 1, 1995, for the term of office ending April 30, 2010. On August 5, 2010, Judge Vasquez was nominated for re-election by President Barack Obama, but the United States. The American Senate failed to act on his candidacy. Vasquez entered senior status on May 1, 2010, and remains senior as he awaits Senate confirmation of his candidacy for re-appointment. President Obama sent back the nomination on January 26, 2011. Vasquez was reasserted on October 13, 2011, for the period ending October 12, 2026.
