Ray Donovan is an American television crime drama series made by Ann Biderman for Showtime. The first twelve-episode episode airs on June 30, 2013. The inaugural episode broke the viewing record, becoming the biggest all time showcase at Showtime. Showtime is updating the show for the fourth season, premiered on June 26, 2016. On August 11, 2016, Showtime renewed the show for the fifth season, which aired on August 6, 2017. On October 23, 2017, the series was updated for the 12th season of the 8th episode. 6, to be filmed in New York City and debuted in 2018.
The drama is set in Los Angeles, California, where Irish-American Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber), originally from South Boston, works for the powerful law firm of Goldman & Drexler, representing the rich and famous. Donovan is a "fixer": someone who organizes bribes, gifts, threats, and other shady activities, to ensure the results desired by the client. Good in his job, and no common veil, Ray is usually a dutiful family man too. He had his own problems when his threatening father, Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight), was unexpectedly released from prison, and the FBI tried to bring down Ray and his comrades.

Ray Donovan has received positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave the season's first 76% ranking based on reviews from 38 critics, with the consensus of the site stating: " Ray Donovan moves quickly between genres and tones, with Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight performances making whiplash worth it". Metacritic gave the first season's weighted average score of 75 out of 100, based on reviews from 36 critics, who showed "generally positive reviews".
Tim Goodman, writing for The Hollywood Reporter, says that "Showtime has another gem in their hands" and casting Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight is "gold".

The first season was released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 10, 2014. The second season was released in both media on May 26, 2015. The third season was released on DVD on December 29, 2015. The fourth season was released on DVD on December 27, 2016.
