Sandra S. (Sandy) Froman (born June 15, 1949) is an American writer, lawyer, professional speaker, and former President of the National Rifle Association of America. *

Froman grew up in San Francisco, California Bay Area, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics with a distinction from Stanford University in 1971 and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1974. He has been a lawyer ever since, having become a partner in three separate law firms as well as teaching in law school. Froman serves on the board of law school of the University of Arizona, as well as George Mason University Law School.

Froman is a member of the NRA Board of Directors, whom he has served since 1992, and co-chair of the Coordinating Committee of Congress Tim Bee. In 2007, he was elected unanimously for lifetime appointment at the NRA's Executive Board. He is currently an international lawyer and speaker. His contributions also appear on WorldNetDaily.com and Townhall.com. He served as the second Vice President of the NRA for five years under Charlton Heston, two years as First Vice President, and elected to the NRA presidency in April 2005. He completed his second term in April 2007. NRA Bylaws limited the president to two terms ( Heston made an exception).

Froman spoke and wrote regularly about the importance of the Second Amendment to defend and carry weapons. He described the NRA as a civil rights organization that emphasized the importance of women's and minority self-defense rights. He is an advocate for judicial conservative appointments as a federal judge, emphasizing the need for judges and Supreme Court judges loyal to the original meaning of the constitutional text and confining themselves to the role of the judiciary interpreting and implementing the law faithfully, not using courts to promote personal policy preferences or advance political agenda.

In May 2018, Mother Jones published an article stating that Froman worked to prop up racist genetic theories of Noble Laureate William Shockley when he was a scholar and later as a student at Harvard Law. Froman claims that he has become Shockley's secretary. When confronted with a recording of a conversation he made publicly with Shockley in which he advised him about publishing his theory, Froman said: "I have no memory of any of this, too long ago."
