The company can trace its roots to the practice of Hartlepool Edward Turnbull, founded in 1841, which then forms the basis of a partnership with Tobias Harry Tilly. Turnbull & amp; Tilly is a Notary Public mostly dealing with submarine claims. Tilly took his eldest son into the partnership and the company continued until the death of Tilly senior in 1932. The company was later expanded by merging with two other local companies. Like Temperley, Tilly & amp; Hayward, moved to a larger office on Church Street, opposite the first place of Turnbull.

In 1949, Mr. JB Irvine, son of a West Hartlepool wood trader, partnered with FWJ Webb. Mr. Webb has been practicing with Edward Fryer, a company founded in 1897. Action against suspected file blocker

On March 1, 2010, Lord Clement-Jones criticized TBI Lawyers along with a strong ACS: The law for the tactics they use when accusing people of copyright infringement. He called TBI Lawyers "newcomers in the blasphemy hall" and their activities "embarrassing for other creative industries".

On March 3rd, the UK consumer rights website Which one? report complaints by people who have received letters from TBI Lawyers accusing them of illegally sharing illegally owned file of pornographic material owned by Golden Eye (International). TBI Lawyers threaten legal action against the recipient of the letter unless they pay 700 compensation within fourteen days of the date of the letter. On March 9th, Which one? reported an act by Young Master that the government will oversee the ACS: Law and Lawyers TBI. Which one? also requested the Lawyers Arrangement Authority (SRA) to investigate whether sending these letters violated the Code of Conduct (SCoC).

On April 1, TBI's lawyers told the SRA that the company would stop sending these letters. In their letter, TBI Lawyers stated that they were "shocked and disappointed" by the time and resources needed to manage the adverse publicity that had attracted their activities, and "worried" that this adverse publicity could affect other areas of their business. Deborah Prince, head Which one? The internal legal team believed that TBI lawyers did violate SCOC, but TBI lawyers denied this in their letter to the SRA, stating that the decision was "based on purely commercial reasons and does not change our view that our behavior always adheres to the Code of Conduct. "

Later that month, TBI said it would end its campaign. John Hall, managing partners at Tilly, Bailey & amp; Irvine Solicitors said in a statement, "We have been shocked and disappointed by the adverse amount of publicity that our company has been interested in relation to this work. After discussion with our clients, we reluctantly agree that we will stop submitting further claim letters. "Hall added that the company was" thrilled to be able to get rid of this problem in a way that makes it clear that the company never acted by intentional or deliberate deliberation ".
