Daniel J. Kremer (born November 21, 1937) is a former District Court Chief Justice of the California Fourth District Court, Division One, who was appointed to the post of Governor of the Republic of George Deukmejian in 1985.

Born in Olympia, Washington, Kremer attended Everett High School in Everett, Washington, but his presence at school was interrupted when he developed polio in one of the last epidemic diseases of the 1950s. Kremer won the title of a high school state debater as a senior and graduated from Everett in 1956.

Kremer won the title of A.B. in 1960 from Stanford University, where he served as a debating team captain for two years and won the Joffre Debate against the University of California, Berkeley. After getting LL.B. from Stanford Law School in 1963, Kremer served as Deputy Attorney General in Sacramento, California. In 1972, he was promoted to head of the criminal division at the San Diego Attorney General's office. In 1983, Kremer was once again promoted, this time to the Assistant Chief Prosecutor General to the state criminal division.

Later that year, Republican Governor George Deukmejian appointed Kremer to serve as San Diego County Superior Court Judge. In 1985, Deukmejian appointed the Kremer to become Chief Justice of the Fourth District Court, California, Division One. During his tenure as Chief Justice, Kremer served as Chairman of the Suspended Criminal Suspension Committee of the Judicial Council, Library Technology Committee, and Court Facilities Task Force. The Judicial Council referred to Kremer as Juris of the Year 2002.

As Chief Justice, Kremer wrote a court verdict in favor of a farmer by enforcing a $ 1.7 million decision against the United Farm Workers for illegal strikes, and supporting a teenager by forfeiting a $ 166.50 fine imposed by a traffic court that a father widows should be granted custody of their daughters after their father-in-law and their lawyers use "unforgivable" tactics to try to take prisoners away from him, that insurance companies can not sue to recover losses incurred in space exploration, a fundamentalist Christian mother condemned for humiliation civilians could be accused of stealing a child for stealing his teenage son from his gay father without violating his constitutional protection against double dangers, that a city does not act with a major negligence in the deaths of surfers for failing to call for an unemployed coastguard, that the police have a possible cause for arresting a teenager murdered a teenager, that the owner of a Complex apparatus may refuse to permit the installation of Cox Cable equipment, and that doctors who report alleged child abuse cases are immune from lawsuits by parents.

The Kremer Court Judge has been active in legal education through programs for the California Judge Association, San Diego law schools and various lawyers and civil groups.

After serving as Chief Justice for 18 years, Kremer retired on July 31, 2003.
