Histori

Joe Bohannon first signed up at WBBM-FM, known as B96, in 1984 hosted the evening show as "JoBo In Chicago". Ed Volkman started in B96 in 1986, hosting a morning show with Karen Hand and Mike Elston. Elston left B96 in 1988 and Bohannon was moved into the morning along with Volkman and Hands; creation "Eddie & JoBo".

This duo enjoyed success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They invite their listeners, whom they call "World's Most Dangerous Audience," to assist in jokes such as cold wake-up calls, daily Twinkie checks, and mattress attacks. Eddie & amp; JoBo rode a wave of success, but on May 10, 1994, they were dismissed after a million-dollar defamation suit filed against them by former WMAQ-TV News announcer Joan Esposito. Esposito sued Eddie & amp; JoBo in 1993 after JoBo falsely aired a statement that he had been impregnated by a member of the Chicago Bulls. Esposito eventually won a public apology and $ 1 million.

It was then that B96 decided to move the morning drive in a new direction, asking the listeners to "choose" a new morning drive in what is known as "The B96 Morning Show Open Auditions" that ran through the summer of 1994. Terry Jacobs and Bill Cody were chosen by listeners to be the successor of Eddie & amp; JoBo. However, very few people are warming up to "T.J. & amp; Wild Bill" and the number of listeners decreases when compared to Eddie & amp; JoBo event.

Catch the pressure from a campaign led by former co-worker and former Karen Hand on-air host, plus numerous phone calls and letters sent by Eddie & Loyalist JoBo, B96 announced on 12 December 1996 that Eddie & JoBo has been rehired, and will return to host a morning trip with Frankie "Hollywood" Rodriguez from January 13, 1997 from 5-8 am.

B96 began to see significant improvements in their morning drive ratings as the combo show "Eddie & JoBo And Frankie" and "Private Lives" slowly climbed up the rankings. Fearing of another possible lawsuit, the station's management stepped up to give them more control over the event. They keep the on-air staff changing and apply a recording delay, sometimes for 20 minutes. Every word spoken by the duo is closely monitored and must be approved by a member of management before it goes live. In addition, a member of management must be in the studio with Eddie & amp; JoBo any time or they can not broadcast.

Eddie & amp; JoBo adapt to change, and ratings continue to climb back to their former glory. Private Lives dropped from the morning drive in 1999 and Eddie & amp; JoBo hosted from 5-10 am under tight restrictions until May 29, 2002. The rival station WKSC-FM 103.5 made an offer to them for an unlimited morning journey at their station. B96 drew the show as a negotiating tactic in hopes of retaining the show. The negotiations continued until July when B96 announced that Eddie & JoBo signed a contract with the station in a 7-year deal, $ 21 million that was about to begin. Also, B96 agrees to cancel all restrictions on the show.

Eddie & amp; JoBo resumed live performances on July 22, 2002. However, the show began to experience a real downgrade. Many have attributed this to the overall downgrade of the station because it dropped the heavy dance music format for all hip-hop & amp; rap format in the late 90's. Since leaving dance music, B96 witnessed a steady decline from # 1 in 1998, dropping to # 9, and even lower in recent years.

On November 21, 2008, Eddie, JoBo, and Erica were released from their morning show.

After Eddie and Joowo worked for a year at WJMK-FM in Chicago, following the brand change of "K-HITS" station, his second career remained inactive for several years before a possible resurgence in 2014. In June 2014, it was announced that a deal in WLS-FM for two DJs are working, with the final stages of the arranged contracts and possibilities in the air. However, at the last minute, JoBo opted out of the contract, so the station did not want only Eddie to hold the position and the offer was terminated. What appears to be a feud between two radio hosts is becoming a topic of internet conversation, but both Volkman and Colborn have assured that their friendship persists, despite creative differences. For now, Colborn remains in the suburbs of Chicago, while Volkman, for the first time in twenty-five years, is looking for a job as a solo on-air host.

In 2016, Eddie and JoBo continue to be spokespeople for United Auto Insurance, a Chicago-based insurance company, and have not been reunited in any form.

Eddie has hosted his solo morning show on the northwestern outskirts at 103.9 The FOX while Jobo hosts his own bakery in the local bar's bathroom.

Career at WLS AM

After being fired in November 2008, Facebook groups were made to petition for Eddie & JoBo to be broadcast again. B96 still airs United Auto Insurance radio ads until the contract expires. Months later, they were cast as WLS-AM performers on the working day of The Roe Conn Show . This caused them to be hired by the WLS as the host Saturday night. Their show airs every Saturday night from 7-9 pm, sometimes 9:30 pm -Midnight.

The event was dubbed "Eddie and Jobo's Saturday Night Speech Party" and received positive reviews from critics.
