Arthur L. Aidala (born 1967 in Brooklyn, New York), currently a New York criminal defense lawyer and legal analyst on Fox News Channel where he appears in various time-day and prime-time programs. He recently became a guest lecturer at the Harvard University Law School at the invitation of Professor Alan Dershowitz. In 2012, Aidala was selected as one of New York City's premier criminal defense attorneys by Super Lawyers Magazine. [1] Aidala is the grandson of Artie Aidala, a renowned New York State Athletic Command ringer who entered the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2008 [2]. Artie Aidala was one of three judges who decided on the outcome of the Fight of the Century boxing game in 1971 Ali v. Frazier at Madison Square Garden [3]. He is the son of Louis R. Aidala, a former Manhattan District Assistant and a criminal defense lawyer in practice for 50 years. Louis Aidala is a special prosecutor for the Attica prison riots and has recently been represented by celebrity Jennifer Lopez in New York City [4].

Aidala graduated from State University of New York at Purchase in 1989 and obtained a law degree from CUNY Law School in 1992. She was accepted in New York and New Jersey Bars in the same year. Aidala served as Assistant District Attorney at the DA County DA Office as a Senior Court attorney and a supervisor at the Bureau of Assessment and Initial Case Investigation from 1993 to 1997.

He resigned in 1997 to run for the New York City Council. After 108 shy votes in Primary Election, Aidala opened his own legal practice with offices in New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn) and Milan, Italy.

Famous cases

In May 2010, Aidala successfully defended Lawrence Taylor, a former professional football player with the New York Giants, against allegations of sexual assault at Ramapo, New York which included alleged third-degree rape crimes. Taylor finally pleaded guilty to mistakes and was sentenced to trial. In October 2012, after renowned lawyer Gloria Allred filed a civil suit against Taylor in the Federal Court on behalf of the alleged victim, Aidala once again represented Taylor and, in time, the jury agreed with Aidala and denied the loss to be paid to the alleged victim [5].

In 2010, Aidala defended the owner of a rigging company responsible for crane operations that collapsed on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in 2008 and killed 7 people and injured dozens more. He was charged with 20 counts in connection with the accident (7 of which were mediocre killing) and after a one month non-jury trial, found no innocence on every count.

In 2009 Aidala defended Brigitte Harris, who was accused of murder and murder in asphyxia and his father's castration. His father allegedly began sexually harassing him (including intercourse) at an early age and continued until he was 18 years old. Brigitte's elder sister stated in an appearance with Aidala on The Montel Williams Show that she was also sexually abused by their father. On 6 November 2009, Brigitte Harris was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison and released in August 2012.

In other important cases, Aidala successfully defended the real estate king Abe Hirschfeld in his attempted murder trial and spearheaded an innovative "Battered Woman Syndrome" defense in the case of a gay man who killed his partner.

Professional Associations :
Aidala served as President of the Columbus Lawyers' Association in New York City, was Second Vice-President of the Brooklyn Bar Association, [7], an Executive Board Member of the Kings County Bar Association. > [8] and a member of the National Italian American Bar Association [9].
