Jacob John "Jake" Humphrey (born ( 1978-10-07 October 7, 1978) is a British television presenter and journalist, best known to present BBC Sport coverage on Formula One from 2009 to 2012. He is the main presenter of the football coverage of BT Sport and Director of Whisper Films.

Humphrey's career on television began after leaving school. His first job for the BBC was for their CBBC children's channel, although the switch to the sport from 2006 saw him host the youngest of their soccer show Football Focus , and then Today's Match and Final Score . While continuing as a guest presenter at the event, he also went on to present BBC coverage of international football.

Outside of football, he also presents BBC coverage of the Commonwealth Games and Summer Olympics, and American Football in the Super Bowl and NFL International Series. He started presenting Formula One after the BBC regained the rights of ITV.

Humphrey is also the host of BBC Sport Personality of the Year, and there have been guests who host non-sports programs such as The One Show for BBC One and This Week for ITV.

Initial career

After failing Level A, while learning to resit the following year he took work experience work at ITV East of England, an Anglia Television contractor. After passing A Levels the following summer, he joined Anglia on a full-time as a runner, followed by a move to Rapture TV where he presented the original incarnation of G @ mers. Humphrey began performing at CBBC as a host assistant at Against All Odds and later as the main host of Rule The School in 2001. He later became the main presenter of Against All Odds and studio presenter for CBBC the following year.

In late 2002, he hosted CBBC's coverage of Fame Academy , along with Holly Willoughby. They also presented the celebrity 2003 edition for Comic Relief. Humphrey also presented the 2005 Comic Relief of Fame Academy, with Sophie McDonnell and Caroline Flack respectively. Humphrey also presents the CBBC Against All Odds event, a TV show featuring real-life emergency reconstruction and providing First Aid advice to viewers.

Starting in 2004, Humphrey began hosting the The Saturday Show and BAMZOOKi , but this role ended in 2005 and 2006 respectively. He also presented Newsround from 2005 to 2008. He was named the sports sports reader Sportsround in September 2005, starting a series of sports-related roles. Also he is the presenter on Gimme a Break in the first series.

Humphrey began appearing as a match reporter with BBC Radio 5 Live in 2005 and then presented coverage of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

He first hosted Football Focus in November 2006, covering for ordinary host Manish Bhasin who was presenting coverage from Ashes 2006. He then closed for Bhasin again during the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Humphrey has become host Final Score when regular presenter Ray Stubbs can not do it. She first hosted Match of the Day for the FA Women's Cup final in May 2007, and then presented coverage of the 2007 Women's World Cup.

In October 2007, he hosted the first BBC American Football, after which Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLIII were presented live. As well as hosting live coverage of Premier League matches, Humphrey will also be involved with other new channel soccer programs, working to shape the new football programming style.

In 2015 has hosted Barclays Premier League football matches exclusively from Bar Sport for the last two seasons. Jake will continue to host the Premier League and FA Cup coverage and expand his role by entering exclusively the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League direct matches.

Other presentations

Personal life

He lived in Richmond in southwest London, and married his childhood sweetheart, Harriet, at a ceremony in his hometown outside Norwich in August 2007. On September 11, 2012 he announced via Twitter that Harriet was expecting their first child. Their daughter, Florence Aurelia Alice Humphrey, was born on March 20, 2013. Since, she has a second child, Sebastian Alexander James was born on August 1, 2015. Harriet works as one of the directors and managers of Whisper Film production.

He is a supporter of his local football team, Norwich City.

Humphrey is color blind - a fact that he reveals to much excitement on the BBC Radio 5 Live Fighting Talk sports comedy show, when talking about automatic door locks on train toilets. He does not know when the light that appears when the door is locked has changed from green to red.

He received the Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law from the University of East Anglia in July 2012.
