Caitlyn Marie Jenner was born William Bruce Jenner on October 28, 1949, in Mount Kisco, New York, to Esther Ruth ( nÃÆ' à © e McGuire) and William Hugh Jenner. His father was an arborist. She has two sisters, Lisa and Pam. His younger brother, Burt, was killed in a car accident in Canton, Connecticut on November 30, 1976, shortly after Jenner was successful at the Olympics. As a young boy, Jenner was diagnosed with dyslexia.
Jenner attended Sleepy Hollow High School in Sleepy Hollow, New York, for new and second year students and Newtown High School in Newtown, Connecticut, for junior and senior years, graduating in 1968. Jenner obtained a football scholarship and attended Graceland College ( now Graceland University) in Lamoni, Iowa, but was forced to stop playing football with a knee injury. Realizing Jenner's potential, Graceland's coach, L. D. Weldon pushed Jenner into the decathlon. In 1970, Jenner placed fifth while debuting in Terbon at Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Jenner graduated from Graceland College in 1973 with a degree in physical education.

Initial career
In the 1972 US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, Jenner was in fifth place in the men's decathlon, behind Steve Gough and Andrew Pettes. Needing to make a 19-second gap at Gough in the men's 1500 meters, Jenner qualified for the Olympic team by running a fast final lap, finishing 22 seconds ahead of the other runners. (Video on YouTube @ 25: 58) This prompted the Eugene Register-Guard to ask: "Who is Jenner?" After the Olympic Trial, Jenner finished tenth in the dolphins at the 1972 Summer Games in Munich. By watching Soviet Mykola Avilov win the event, Jenner was inspired to begin an intense training regimen. "For the first time, I know what I want out of life and that's it, and this guy has it.I really started practicing that night in the middle of the night, running through the streets of Munich, Germany, training for the Olympics. it's through the 1976 Olympics, 6-8 hours a day, every day, 365 days a year. "
After graduating from Graceland, Jenner married Chrystie Crownover's lover and moved to San Jose, California. Chrystie provides most of the family income by working as an air hostess for United Airlines. Jenner rehearses during the day and sells insurance at night, earning $ 9,000 per year. In an era before professional athletes are allowed to compete in Olympic sports, this kind of training is unheard of. During this period, Jenner trained at San Jose City College (SJCC) and San Jose State University (SJSU). San Jose is centered around SJCC Bert Bonanno's coach; at the time, the city became a venue for training and was called "The Capital of the World Track". Many other Olympic athletes are also trained in San Jose; The list includes Millard Hampton, Andre Phillips, John Powell, Mac Wilkins, and Al Feuerbach. Jenner's most successful event was a skill event on the second day: obstacles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500 meters.
Olympic success
Jenner was American champion in the men's decathlon show in 1974, and featured on the cover of Track & amp; Field News the August issue of 1974. On tour in 1975, Jenner won the French national championship, and a gold medal at the 1975 Pan American Games, earning a record of 8,045 points. This was followed by a new world record of 8,524 points in the US. A./AS.S.S.R./Poland met the triangle in Eugene, Oregon on 9-10 August 1975, broke Avilov's record, and 8,538 points in the 1976 Olympic trials, also in Eugene. The record at Eugene is a hybrid score due to a system time failure and a wind aid sign. However, Jenner takes pride in "Fun little practice, huh?"
"We got what we wanted, we frightened everyone in the world just one month from the Olympics."
Of the 13 decathlons, Jenner competed between 1973 and 1976, the only defeat was in the 1975 AAU National Championship, when "no altitude" in the pole vault damaged the score.
At the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Jenner reached five personal bests on the first day of the men's home run home - despite being second only to Guido Kratschmer of West Germany. Jenner was convinced: "The second day has all my good things going on, if everything goes okay, we have to be ahead after it's over." After a rainstorm on the second day, Jenner watched his team mate Fred Dixon get hurt in a 110-meter hurdle, so took a cautious approach to the obstacles and discus, then had the best experience in the pole vault, when Jenner took the lead, and the javelin. At that point, victory is absolutely guaranteed, but it remains to be seen by how much Jenner will improve the record. In the last event - 1500 meters, which looks live on national television - Jenner sees content to complete a long competition. Jenner raced in the final round, making a 50-meter deficit and almost caught a favorite of the event, Soviet Leonid Litvinenko, who was out of the competition for the gold medal, but his personal best was eight seconds better than Jenner's before the race. Jenner set a new personal best time and won the gold medal with a world record score of 8,618 points.
Olympic world record performance :
Impact
After the event, Jenner took the American flag from the audience and took it during the round of victory, starting a tradition that is now common among the winning athletes. Leaving the dome poles in the stadium, with no intention of competing again, Jenner stated that: "In 1972, I made the decision that I would go for four years and really dedicate myself to what I did, and then I would continuing after it's all over.I went into the competition knowing it was going to be the last time I did this. "Jenner explained," It hurts every day when you train hard, and when it ends, I live the rest of my life for Who cares how bad it hurts? "
As a result of winning the Olympic declaration, Jenner became a national hero and received the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States and also named the Male Athlete Relevant of the Year in 1976.
The 1976 world and Jenner Olympic record were broken by four points by Daley Thompson at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow; Thompson's victory may be tainted by the US-led Olympic boycott of Moscow, although the then top American Bobby Coffman is not expected to push for Thompson or challenge Jenner's record. In 1985, the Jenner Olympic Decstlon score was re-evaluated against the updated IAAF decatlon assessment table and reported as 8,634 for comparison purposes. This converted sign became American record until 1991, when it was surpassed by the last gold medalist, and world record holder Dan O'Brien from Dan & amp; Dave's fame. In 2011, Jenner was ranked twenty-five on the world list of all time and ninth in America's all-time list. Including the year 2012 of the emergence of new world record holder Ashton Eaton, mark Jenner has moved to No. 1. Ã, 27 worldwide and No. Ã, 10 US.
Jenner was inducted into the 1980 National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1980, the Olympic Hall of Fame in 1986, the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame and the Connecticut Sports Hall of Fame in 1994, and the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame. in 2010. Leveraging Olympic fame
In the 1970s, Olympic athletes were considered amateurs and were not allowed to seek or accept payments for their positions as sports celebrities. During the Cold War in 1972, three major Olympic titles that had a long history of American basketball success, 100 meters run, and a close were accepted by Soviet athletes. Jenner became an American hero by returning a decathlon title to the United States. "After the Olympics ended," Jenner said, "I happen to be the right person, in the right place, at the right time." Tony Kornheiser of The New York Times wrote: "Jenner is twirling the country like a buoy, and he and his wife, Chrystie, so high on American heroic footsteps, will take the crane to get them down."
After the expected Olympic success, Jenner plans to monetize on the status of any celebrity who can follow the gold medal in the same mold as Johnny Weissmuller and Sonja Henie, who have become the main movie stars after their gold medal. This will require us to leave the Olympic competition in the future. At that time, Jenner's agent George Wallach felt there was a window of four years until the next Olympics would become capital. Wallach reports that Jenner is being considered for the Superman role , which eventually went to Christopher Reeve. "I really do not know how many offers we have," Wallach claimed. "There is still a telegram that has not been reopened at the hotel and you can not believe the offer poured for the first two days."
Jenner appeared on the cover of 9 August 1976, Sports Illustrated , February 1979 edition Gentleman's Quarterly , and on the cover of Playgirl magazine. Jenner became the spokesperson for Tropicana shoes, Minolta, and Buster Brown. Jenner was also chosen by Kansas City Kings by choosing 139 in the seventh round of the 1977 NBA draft despite not playing basketball since high school. The publicity action was carried out by team president/general manager Joe Axelson to mock the Kansas City Head's annual claim that they plan to select the "best athlete available" in the Draft National Football League. Jenner was presented with a jersey adapted to 8618, the Olympic gold medal, but would never appear as an active player with the Kings.
Wheaties spokesperson
In 1977, Jenner became the spokesperson for the Wheaties breakfast cereal and appeared in an iconic photo on the cover of a cereal box. After taking over from Olympic champion Bob Richards, Jenner was second in the series of athletes featured as spokespersons for the brand. Mary Lou Retton replaced Jenner in 1984.
On November 22, 1977, Jenner went to San Francisco to reject the allegations filed by San Francisco district attorney Joseph Freitas that General Mills - the maker of Wheaties - had engaged in deceptive advertising in his campaign featuring Jenner. Jenner loves Wheaties and eats breakfast cereals two or three times a week, which supports advertising campaign claims. Two days later, Freitas withdrew the lawsuit, saying it was a "case of joy" on the part of his staff.
When Jenner came out as a trans lady by 2015, General Mills stated that: "Bruce Jenner continues to be a member of respected Tim Wheaties." After a negative response to this preliminary statement, Mike Siemienas, General Mills' media relations manager, clarified by saying: "Bruce Jenner has been a member of respected Tim Wheaties, and Caitlyn Jenner will continue."

Gender transitions
Sign out as transgender woman
In a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015, Jenner came out as a trans woman, saying that she has been dealing with gender dysphagia since her youth and that, "for all intents and purposes, I am a woman. "Jenner dressed for many years and took hormone replacement therapy but quit after the romance with Kris Kardashian became more serious, leading to a marriage in 1992. Jenner told of having permission to explore her gender identity on her own journey but not when they were combined, and that not knowing the best way to talk about the many problems contributed to the 23-year marriage decline, which officially ended in 2015.
Jenner has undergone cosmetic surgery, and completed a sex-change operation in January 2017. She says that she has never been sexually attracted to men, but instead has always been sexually attracted to women, and that, given the difficulty of people understanding the difference between sexual orientation and identity gender, she will identify as asexual for now.
Media attention
In June 2015, Jenner debuted with her new name and image, and started openly using the feminine pronoun. Jenner held a renaming ceremony in July 2015, adopting the name Caitlyn Marie Jenner. Prior to her 20/20 interview, two special sections titled Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce were filmed with the family in which she answered questions, and prepared her for the personal aspect and the public from the transition. In a special event, which aired in May 2015, the point is emphasized that there is no one right way to make the transition. Jenner made it a priority to ensure that all children were independent before focusing on the transition. In September 2015, her name was changed legally to Caitlyn Marie Jenner and gender for women.
Jenner's announcement that she is transgender comes at an unprecedented time for trans visibility, including legislative initiatives. The 20/20 Interview had 20.7 million viewers, making it the television show "highest newscast broadcasts among adults aged 18-49 and adults 25-54". The Daily Beast writes that Jenner's honesty, vulnerability and fame may have caused a "cheap joke" about trans men to be "cruel to mainstream audiences on an unprecedented scale". Noting the shift in how comedians treat Jenner's transition, The Daily Beast sees change as the same evolution that occurs in the acceptance of LGBT people as a whole when "comedians end up crossing the critical threshold of ridicule to creativity in their jokes".
Jenner's gender identity that emerged was revealed in the Vanity Fair interview written by Buzz Bissinger. Annie Leibovitz photographed the cover, the magazine first presented a transgender woman openly, entitled "Call me Caitlyn". Using his Twitter grip, @Caitlyn_Jenner, he tweeted: "I am very happy after the long struggle for my true life, welcome to the world of Caitlyn, can not wait for you to know him/me." The Time magazine declared this tweet to be the 10th most re-tweeted tweet of 2015, based on re-tweets of tweets by verified users from 1 January to 10 November of that year. Jenner collected more than a million Twitter followers in four hours and three minutes, setting a new Guinness World Record and surpassing US President Barack Obama, who, a month earlier, achieved the same achievement in four hours and fifty-two minutes. Four days later, Jenner reached 2.37 million followers, with 1.5 million followers on Instagram.
However, Jenner was also ridiculed. Beginning in September 2015, he was depicted on the satirical animated American program, South Park , which parodied the political correctness of its supporters, as well as the record of its driving. Jenner's related episodes are "Stunning and Brave", "Where My Country Gone?", "Sponsored Content", "Truth and Advertising" and "PC Principal Final Justice" from the 19th season of the event.
In April 2016 during the Republican presidential election, Jenner set an example for the opposition of Donald Trump's candidate to North Carolina's Privacy Facility & amp; Security Act, with Trump saying that Jenner can use any toilet he chooses in the Trump Tower property. Jenner immediately posted a video showing that he had picked up Trump's offer. He thanked Trump and convinced Trump Ted Cruz's enemy that "nothing is abused".
In June 2016, Jenner was one of the few celebrities portrayed using synthetic "sleep" bodies for Kanye West's "Famous" song video. Later that month, an episode of Epic Rap Battles of History was released featuring Jenner, as Bruce (played by Peter Shukoff) and then Caitlyn (played by transgender rapper Jolie "NoShame" Drake), rap battling The Hulk (played by Lloyd Ahlquist).
Reception
General
In August 2015, Jenner won the Social Media Queen award at the Teen Choice Awards. In October 2015, the Glamor magazine named him as one of 25 Glamor Women of the Year, calling her "Champ of Trans." In November 2015, Jenner was listed as one of 2015 Entertainers of the Year 2015 Entertainment Weekly. In December 2015, she was named Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating Person of 2015. Also in that month, she was listed on a list of eight Eight People magazines for 2015, and Bing released the list of "Most Searched Celebrities" this year, which Jenner is on up, and stated that Jenner Vanity Fair ranks second in the list of "highest celeb moment of 2015." He is the second most-searched person on Google by 2015. In April 2016, he was listed in Time 100. In June 2016, Jenner became the first openly transgender person featured on the cover Sports Illustrated. The cover and related story mark the 40 years he won the 1976 Summer Olympics.
Germinal writer Germaine Greer called the decision of Glamor magazine to reward Jenner with the "Women of the Year" award, questioning whether transgender women can be better than "someone newly born as a woman." Jenner also received criticism from individuals such as actress Rose McGowan, for stating in a BuzzFeed interview that the hardest part about being a woman "was figuring out what to wear". McGowan argues: "We are more than deciding what to wear.We are more than stereotypes imposed on us by people like you. You're a woman now? Well fucking learned that we have had a very different experience from your life boy. privilege." McGowan later stated that he was not transphobic, adding: "Not liking something a trance says is no different from disliking something a man says or a woman says." Being a trance does not make a person immune from criticism. "
Chris Mandle from The Independent stated: "Jenner has inspired many men and women, but her comments, made after she was celebrated at Glamor of Women Of The Year magazine in New York stamped ' offensive and insulting. "He added:" People are starting to tweet others, difficult things women have to deal with, such as institutionalized oppression, harassment and sexual violence. " James Smith, the husband of Moira Smith, the only New York Police officer who died on September 11, 2001, returned Moira's award, "Woman of the Year", awarded posthumously. Referring to Jenner as a man, he declares that he found Glamor gave Jenner the same award that insulted Moira's memory, calling it a publicity stunt. Smith later said that, after supporting transgender teenagers and Glamor's decision to honor the Laverne Cox transgender actress in 2014, she does not mind because Jenner is a transgender; he dismisses Jenner's "most difficult comments about being a woman"; this proves to him that Jenner "is not really a woman.I believe this comment and others she has underestimated the transgender experience as I have seen."
On the contrary, Adrienne Tam from The Daily Telegraph argues that Jenner is entitled to the Glamor award, saying: "What McGowan fails to consider is the joke way in which Jenner speaks." Tam said:
[Jenner] also immediately follow up on "what ladies wear" dilemma: It's more than that. I like this in my life where I try to think of this feminine thing. It's more than hair, makeup, clothes, all that sort of thing. There is an element here that I am still looking for. And I think it will take a while. Because I think as far as gender, we are all on the way. We all learn and grow about ourselves. And I feel the same way.
Tam regarded McGowan's criticism above, and expressed James Smith's condemnation, "The point that stands out here is courage. We easily recognize the physical courage of saving orphans from burning buildings, or ordinary people putting their lives on the fire line. it's harder to recognize mental courage. "He added:" Without a doubt, the police officer who died in the September 11 attacks was brave, but so was Jenner, it was a different kind of courage, but it was a constant courage. "
LGBT community
With her profile raised by her as a trans woman by 2015, Jenner has been named the most famous transgender woman in the world. He is also one of the most recognized LGBT people in the world and arguably the most famous LGBT athlete. Jenner admitted in her 20/20 interview that part of the reason for looking so obvious was to draw attention to gender disparity, violence against trans females, and other transgender problems. He also seeks to promote discussion on LGBT issues as the trans community has unprecedented visibility. He signed a contract with the Creative Artists Agency's speaker department and will collaborate with the CAA Foundation on philanthropic strategies that focus on LGBT issues. He made a personal appearance at the Los Angeles LGBT Center in June 2015, where he talked to trans at risky teenagers.
Jenner received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award during the 2015 ESPY Awards in July 2015. ESPN executive producer Maura Mandt said Jenner was rewarded for "he has shown courage to accept truths that have been hidden for years, and to begin a journey that may not only provide convenience for those facing similar situations, but can also help educate the public about the challenges facing the transgender community. "He is LGBT's third person in succession to receive the award following soccer player Michael Sam (2014) and broadcaster Robin Roberts (2013).

Politik
Jenner is a Christian, relying on political conservatism and a Republican. "I got more criticism for being a conservative Republican than I am because of the trance," he said. Despite stopping his support, Jenner said that he liked Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential election 2016, despite Cruz's negative views on trans men. In his reality show I Am Cait, Jenner says that although he does not support Donald Trump, he thinks he will be good for women's issues; He later stated he would never support Hillary Clinton. He finally chose Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
In February 2017, President Trump canceled federal requirements granting the right of transgendered students to choose school toilets that fit their gender identity. In response, Jenner tweeted "Well @realDonaldTrump, from one Republican to another, it's a disaster." You promise to protect the LGBTQ community. "Contact me."
In April 2017, Jenner said she supports same-sex marriage.
In July 2017, Jenner announced that he was considering running in a 2018 race for the US Senate to represent California.
Later in the month, he cursed Trump for issuing orders to restore a ban on transgender people to serve in the military. In his tweet, he writes, "What's going on with your promise to fight for it?", Pairing it with the Trump tweet from June 2016 in which he promised to fight for the LGBT community.
