Family Law is an American television drama starring Kathleen Quinlan as a divorced lawyer Lynn Holt, who seeks to start her own law firm after her husband leaves her and their legal practice, takes all their clients with her. The series aired on CBS from 1999 to 2002 and was created by Paul Haggis.
The show also starred Christopher McDonald as an opportunist, lawyer pursuing ambulance Rex Weller, Julie Warner as Lynn's friend Danni (and one former staff member of the company who was not handicapped with Lynn's ex-husband), and Dixie Carter as Ritard's "pit bull" divorce lawyer King. Then additional players include Tony Danza, Cristian de la Fuente, Salli Richardson and Meredith Eaton as Emily Resnick, an ambitious lawyer who hopes to become a partner.
The song hit Edwin Starr in 1970, "War" was used as the opening theme of the series.
